As part of its efforts to inspire young Nigerians to channel their creativity, skills, and energy toward nation-building, the Lead Generation Initiative (LGI) successfully trained 500 young Nigerians on leadership, community organizing, and active citizenship on Tuesday, 19th October 2021.
The event, tagged the “North East Zonal Get Involved Leadership Summit,” took place in Yola, Adamawa State, and brought together youth leaders and representatives from the six states in the North East geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
With the theme “Improving Youth Productivity: A Panacea for National Transformation,” the summit aimed to empower participants with practical skills and strategies to foster change. Following the training, participants were expected to return to their respective states to organize Get Involved Leadership Training (GILT) sessions at the state, local, and ward levels for larger audiences.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including governors from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe states.
The Lead Generation Initiative, a non-governmental, non-partisan, and non-profit organization officially launched on 21st January 2021 in Abuja, had previously conducted six successful Get Involved Leadership Training (GILT) sessions in Oyo, Osun, Bauchi, Gombe, Niger, and Kwara states.
The Get Involved Leadership Summit (GILS) is an ongoing initiative by LGI, designed to rotate across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria to foster leadership development and active citizenship among the youth.
